How We Work

We offer a free initial intake assessment to introduce ourselves, and get to know you better. It is important that we both ensure that we are the right fit for you, and to answer any questions you may have. This is usually taken over the phone or on Zoom, and lasts 30 minutes. 

You will then receive an email from one of our counsellors clarifying your intake assessment, and outlining the options for counselling including availability, in-person or online sessions, and ensuring that we are the best people to help. Following on from this, you are able to make a decision about whether you would like to begin counselling with self & sonder.

If you have decided to begin counselling with self & sonder, you will book in your first session. Here, our counsellor will go through a contract with you, and talk through how counselling will work. Following this, talking therapy will begin.

Counselling sessions will be ongoing from here. All our counsellors work within a sex week review structure. This allows us to keep your counselling progression on track, and ensures that both you and your therapist are content with how counselling is moving forwards.

All of our sessions last 50 minutes at a rate of £75 per session. We accept cash and BACS payments ahead of the session. We also offer a 10% discount for clients paying in monthly instalments. You can speak with our counsellors about this.
